In the last 10 years, with up gradation of technology Radio Remote Control systems have undergone a tremendous change for the better in terms of safety, reliability, user friendliness, maintenance and inventory of spares. TELECRANE was amongst the first in the world to switch over to latest and advanced technology and being TELECRANE’s sole dealers ACROPOLIS ENGINEERING LTD has access to these upgraded systems. Some of the latest developments are listed below:

PC programmable The systems are programmable through a software on a PC so that the transmitter and receiver is configured as per crane electrical drawings. In case of complicated cranes there could be a substantial reduction in interfacing cost.
 
Program Copier
With the Program Copier program can be Copied and transferred to the receiver located on the crane platform. The program of one system can also be copied into another through the program copier facilitating interchange of systems between the cranes. Similarly the program in any of the systems installed can be copied into the spare Transmitter & Receiver

Additional Safety
In the event of an unlikely failure of Emergency Stop button, if magnetic key switch is removed during the operation, the main line will drop. This additional safety feature was not available in the older systems.

Crystal based
In the older systems, in case of failure of frequency card, complete PCB had to be replaced. In the latest systems only plug-in and plug-out type frequency crystals are required to be replaced, which can be done by the user at site. RF card is totally eliminated which used to be the main cause of failure of obsolete systems. Thus customers can maintain the systems themselves at cheaper cost rather than sending the full frequency cards for repairs. This also results in minimum inventory of spares.
 
Battery Check
Use of weak batteries results in gradual failure of cards. In the older versions it was not possible for the operator to know the healthiness of the batteries unless all operations were temporarily terminated and a specific battery check was carried out. But in the latest technology systems battery voltage check is continuously carried out while the system is in operation. The transmitter shows status of batteries in 3 stages. Green confirms healthiness of batteries and while in operation if LED changes to Orange, it means weak battery status. The batteries need to be replaced immediately so that no damage is caused to other PCBs due to weak batteries. Red would mean dead batteries.
 
Durable and Compact Receiver
The receiver is very light in weight but more sturdy and easy to handle & install. The receiver has lamp indication to indicate that the communication between the transmitter and the receiver has been established. The receiver housing is of nylon fiber which is dust proof, bad conductor of heat, corrosion proof, with no possibility of signal being grounded and is best suited for uninterrupted radio signals

 
Program Copier
To eliminate operator fatigue the weight of the transmitter has been limited. The weight of the hand held push button type transmitter has been limited to 350 gms or less and the weight of the shoulder held joystick type transmitter has been limited to 1000gms or less. The joystick systems have been provided with dual joysticks with proportional control if required.
The dual joystick is much easier for the operator to use compared to single joystick. In dual joystick, hoisting and lowering is carried out in vertical plane whereas cross travel and long travel in horizontal plane unlike single joystick system where all the joysticks have to be moved in vertical plane, despite the fact that cross travel and long travel motions are required to move in horizontal plane. With the use of dual joystick the transmitter becomes light and compact. Proportional control is also not possible in single joystick system.
